Eligibility of JUPAS Application

For admission to BBA-SCM programme under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP), HKDSE applicants are required to apply via JUPAS.  The application deadline is 1 December 2016 (11:59 pm).  Non-JUPAS applicants can apply via HSMC Online Application System (Please refer to the table below).

The intake places of programmes under the Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions / Sectors (SSSDP) are mainly allocated through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS). Should there be unfilled intake places after all admission rounds of JUPAS, HSMC will admit local non-JUPAS applicants (HKDSE applicants exclusive) via direct admission of no more than 10% of the subsidised places of the BBA-SCM  programme (i.e. 7 places at maximum).

The number of unfilled intake places for each BBA-SCM programme, if available, and details of the application arrangement will be announced via this website after 10:00am, 26 August 2017. Non-JUPAS local applicants may submit their applications for these unfilled SSSDP intake places after 10:00am, 26 August 2017.  Applications should be submitted to Registry in person by the deadline at 5:00pm, 28 August 2017.  Late application will not be considered.  Should you have any enquiry, please feel free to contact Registry at or 3963-5555.

Admission Policy for JUPAS

SCM programme adopts a Best Five Subject policy with English and Mathematics inclusive. The admission score is calculated based upon the summation of the weighted score of five subjects obtained from the Best Five policy, under which the best five subjects are selected based upon their corresponding weighted scores.

Conversion Table of DSE Score for Admission Score Calculation

Applicants may apply for the BBA-SCM program with combined DSE results of two most recent attempts.  No deduction of score is applied. However, only the attained level of M1 or M2 is considered in the calculation of admission score, whichever is higher.

Subject Weighting for 2017-18

The following table shows that minimum level of various DSE subjects and the corresponding weights that are assigned to the subjects for the calculation of their weighted scores. M1/M2 is considered as an elective subject in the 2017-18 admission score calculation. The following table also reveals that the subject weights are categorized into three levels of subject weight 10, 7 and 5.

*M1/M2 is counted as an individual elective subject.

The following table demonstrates an example of admission calculation under our scoring scheme for an applicant who obtained the following HKDSE results. The weighted score of individual subjects is calculated by the formula of converted DSE level (Y1) times the corresponding subject weight (Y2), i.e., Y1 x Y2. As the table shows, the Best Five subjects in terms of the five highest weighted scores are English, Mathematics, Liberal Studies, BAFS, and Geography. Their weighted scores are then summated to form the Admission Score that is used for admission consideration.
